Congratulations to our thirty-three (33) students who participated in the recently concluded World Scholar’s Cup: Jakarta Round. The competition which was held last 6-7 May 2017 in Jakarta Intercultural School and was participated by almost 600 students from 25 schools around Jakarta.

The World Scholar’s Cup (WSC) is an international academic tournament held in different countries around the world. With this year’s theme, “An Unlikely World”, participants of the WSC compete in four categories: Team Debate (main event), Collaborative Writing, Scholar’s Bowl and Scholar’s Challenge. Successful teams have a chance to go to the Global Round, and possibly to the Tournament of Champions at Yale University.

SWA trained and sent eleven (11) teams for this year’s WSC. The senior team is comprised of Grade 9 students. The junior team, on the other hand, includes students from Grade 4 to 9.

Our team won a total of 29 gold medals and 69 silver medals across the junior and senior divisions. During the Debate Showcase, Eunike was chosen to be part of the judges’ panel. Our senior team also managed to be in the Top 11 for Team Debate. We have 10 debate champions including Eriq (5th place); 9 writing champions including Kirana (9th place); and 1 collaborative writing trophy (4th place) from Kelly, Vijjasena and Tristan.
