Middle School Programs
Mathematics plays an essential role both within the school and in society. It promotes a powerful universal language, analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills that contribute to the development of logical, abstract and critical thinking. Moreover, understanding and being able to use mathematics with confidence is not only an advantage in school but also a skill for problem solving and decision-making in everyday life.
To evaluate learning, competency in algebra, geometry and measure, handling data and number is assessed externally using the CAIE Checkpoint Examinations at the end of Grade 8.
Framework for mathematics
MYP mathematics provides a framework of concepts and skills organized into four branches of mathematics.
SWA ensures that the mathematics curriculum allows all students the opportunity to reach their full potential and achieve the final aims and objectives of MYP mathematics. In order to achieve this, the concepts and skills of the framework for mathematics are organized so that students can work at different levels of ability.
