Sinarmas World Academy (SWA) was exclusively collaborating with SuperCamp Singapore in organising a special 4 Day/3 Night QLS Programme for the students in Grade 6 – 9 from 14 to 17 March 2018. SWA SuperCamp is special modular programme adapted from the 7-Day SuperCamp Programme where SWA students learned important Academic, Leadership and Life-skills that will help them to succeed in school and life. This residential programme is based on research conducted by Quantum Learning Network US, a child will benefit most when he or she is “out of their comfort zone” (away from home), and to transform behaviour there is a need for “pattern interrupt” i.e. change their normal routine and environment.
SuperCamp itself is conducted every summer at Stanford University. Over the years, many parents, including from Indonesia, aspire to send their child there. SWA students were fortunate to experience a similar SuperCamp learning experience in their own school.
On the last day of the programme, parents were invited to a farewell ceremony and got a chance to visit the camp where the students had prepared a showcase of all the activities that they had experienced during 4 days of SuperCamp. Parents were also introduced to 8 Keys of Excellence and asked to support their children by encouraging them to practice the skills and behaviours they had learnt during the camp at home.
During the farewell ceremony many students share their personal reflections on the camp. From their speeches, it was clearly evident that many students had learnt a lot about themselves and their relationships with other people. Sincere expressions of gratitude from several students touched the hearts of everyone listening. It was such a great experience for the students and they hope to have another opportunity to join camp again in the near future.
