Building Responsibility Together: Counsellor & Parents in Action
Jakarta, Indonesia, September 8, 2025 — Big responsibilities start with little habits. When children finish their homework, stick to study routines, or keep their spaces tidy, they are nurturing skills that will last a lifetime. To make this journey easier (and more fun) for parents, Sinarmas World Academy’s esteemed counsellor, Ms. Lindi, shares simple tips parents can follow at home to help responsibility become second nature.

Guiding Instead of Checking
Parents often wonder how to shift from constantly checking homework to fostering accountability in their children. Instead of focusing on corrections, Ms. Lindi encourages parents to step back and let children take the lead—even if it means allowing space for mistakes.
“By making mistakes, children learn that every action comes with consequences, such as receiving low grades for incomplete work,” she explains. These experiences help them become more responsible and independent learners.
Balancing School, Rest, and Activities
High achievement at SWA isn’t just about academics—it’s built on balance, where rest and well-being matter as much as results. “Parents need to know their child’s unique needs, talents, interests, and challenges first,” says Ms. Lindi.
Families can then shape routines that are structured yet flexible, allowing children to become confident, well-rounded learners.
Shared Responsibility at Home
Responsibility at home prepares children for success at school. “When children take on their personal responsibilities, like organising their own belongings, and shared ones, like helping with household chores, they learn discipline, time management, and collaboration,” Ms. Lindi explains.
Little by little, these everyday experiences build the habits and skills children need to thrive both in class and in life.
SWA believes responsibility is not taught in a single lesson; it is lived every day, both in and out of school. By working hand in hand with parents, SWA ensures students grow as learners while developing the life skills needed to become future-ready citizens.
