How would you describe your journey at Sinarmas World Academy as an educator for more than ten years?
The past ten years at Sinarmas World Academy have been deeply meaningful and filled with growth for me as an educator. Working with students from diverse cultural backgrounds has broadened my perspective, and one of the most rewarding aspects has been supporting each student in discovering their potential and witnessing their growth. I see Sinarmas World Academy not just as a place for academic achievement but as a community that helps students develop their identity and grow into global citizens.
When Korean students first join Sinarmas World Academy, what are they usually feeling, and what challenges do they tend to face in those first few months?
Most Korean students arrive with a mix of excitement and anticipation, along with some anxiety about entering a new environment. In the first few months, they often face challenges related to language, differences in teaching and learning styles, and building new friendships.
During this transition, the support of school counsellors plays an important role. Students are able to share their concerns and emotional challenges, which helps them feel more secure and adjust in a healthy way.
In addition, the school offers an English as Additional Language (EAL) programme for students who need extra support. This programme helps them build the necessary English skills to join regular classes within a relatively short period of time.
At the same time, Korean students can maintain and strengthen their Korean through comprehensive language offerings, including IB Korean Language and Literature.
