Sinarmas World Academy (SWA) 17th Anniversary: Empowering Change with Community Action
Tangerang, 4 November 2024 - Sinarmas World Academy (SWA), Indonesia's leading IB school, proudly celebrates its 17th anniversary with the theme "Energy of Change," emphasizing the power of community collaboration and social responsibility. Central to this year’s celebration is the launch of SWA Community Action: Build a Brighter Tomorrow, a school-wide initiative that aligns with the core values of the IB curriculum's Service as Action (SA) and Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) programs, which encourage students to engage in meaningful service and personal growth beyond the classroom.
SWA Community Action calls on the entire SWA community-students, parents, and staff-to come together in partnership with Habitat for Humanity to build homes for families in need in the Cinamprak area. As the first volunteer group to work in this region, SWA has set the tone for pioneering positive change. With the project officially kicked off on October 29, students have already been hands-on in the home-building process, demonstrating their commitment to making a meaningful impact.
Deddy Djaja Ria, General Manager of Sinarmas World Academy said, "This initiative is about more than building homes; it reflects our shared milestones at SWA. Over 17 years, we have fostered academic excellence and innovation, empowering our students to be true agents of change. Projects like this instill values of compassion and responsibility, inspiring our community to create a better future together. Through SWA’s Service as Action and CAS programs, students have spearheaded fundraising efforts, organizing events to gather donations and raise awareness within the school community. These programs emphasize the importance of giving back and encourage students to take initiative, showing that service can create lasting social change. Parents and staff are also encouraged to contribute by volunteering, donating, or spreading the word to maximize the project’s impact.
"This is a defining moment for SWA," said Adhisya, Grade 11 student and Head of Students Committee, involved in the project. "We’re not just reflecting on our past achievements today; we’re actively working together to shape a better future. It’s inspiring to see everyone come together for such a meaningful cause."
Alongside SWA Community Action, the school’s 17th-anniversary celebration features a series of events that reflect the school’s holistic approach to education. The SWA Cup, a sports competition, encourages teamwork and physical well-being, while Mind Matrix, an entrepreneurial business simulation, challenges students to address real-world sustainability issues. The Passion Pods and Prestigious Alumni Exhibition celebrate the talents and achievements of the broader SWA community.
The anniversary celebration culminates in Fun Family Day, an event designed to strengthen bonds between families, students, and staff through interactive games and entertainment, reinforcing SWA’s commitment to building a strong, supportive community.

"Through SWA Community Action and our broader initiatives, we continue to empower our students to embrace change and become leaders who shape a brighter future."
