South Tangerang, December 6, 2024 – Sinarmas World Academy (SWA) welcomed a visit from the Head of the South Tangerang Education Office to present an award to Team Ocean Voyager, the first-place winners in the Future Innovator Junior category at the 2024 World Robot Olympiad (WRO) International Finals held in Türkiye. The team, comprising Zhenxuan (Grade 9), Ruoyi (Grade 8), and Samarth (Grade 9), showcased exceptional technological innovation, triumphing over 560 participants from approximately 80 countries.
"The victory of Sinarmas World Academy students in this competition is a source of pride for us in South Tangerang," said South Tangerang’s Head of the Education Office, Deden Deni. "We hope this achievement inspires other schools to continuously support students' creativity, enabling them to compete on an international stage. This aligns with our plan to develop exceptional human resources, with schools as one of the key components," he added.
The Ocean Voyager project, a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) designed to support coral reef restoration, exemplifies the application of technology to address environmental challenges. This success reflects the students’ mastery of technology and its application to real-world solutions.
During the visit, the Head of the Education Office also toured SWA’s Robotics Lab, observing firsthand the state-of-the-art facilities that empower students to realize their innovative robotics projects. The visit highlighted the crucial role of advanced resources in enabling students to create solutions for global challenges.
"We deeply appreciate the recognition and support from the South Tangerang Government," said Deddy Djaja Ria, Chairman of the Tjiptamas Eka Bangsa Foundation, who accompanied the visit. "This award not only motivates us to continue fostering creativity and innovation among our students but also reflects our contribution to the Government’s efforts to develop a globally competitive young generation," he remarked.
Deddy further emphasized that this victory demonstrates how SWA supports students in transforming ideas into impactful solutions. The Ocean Voyager project stands as a testament to SWA students' ability to leverage technology to create positive change.
In addition to Team Ocean Voyager, SWA also celebrated the achievements of the SWA Roboknights Jr. team, represented by Raphael (Grade 3) and Haejin (Grade 4). They earned a Bronze Medal with their project, the Tsunami Emergency Starter Kit, a device utilizing sensors and communication technology to aid in disaster management.
Through programs such as the IB MYP (International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme), IB DP (International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme), and BEST Pathways, SWA remains committed to equipping students with relevant skills and mindsets to face future challenges with confidence and resilience.
