SWA RoboKnights Represented Indonesia at VEX Robotics World Championship in the United States
Jakarta, Indonesia, 29 April 2026 — Competing in VEX V5 and VEX IQ, the SWA RoboKnights stepped in not just as competitors but as pioneers. They represented Indonesia at the VEX Robotics World Championship in the United States after seizing six major awards at the VEX Robotics Indonesia National Championship.
“I’ve seen a couple of videos from social media showcasing the enormous scale of the competition, but to physically immerse yourself in this competition was a surreal experience,” said Ye Sung from SWA RoboKnights HS.
At its core, the experience was defined by strong teamwork and critical thinking, where every challenge demanded quick decisions, shared ideas, and smart solutions. In the end, SWA RoboKnights ES won the Sportsmanship Award under the Science category, the first for the country.
Commenting on his team’s success, Haejin from SWA RoboKnights ES shared, “When I found out that I had won the Sportsmanship Award in the Science Division, I felt really happy and excited. It was a very meaningful achievement for our small team of only two members. It also motivated me to work even harder so that next time, we can win an even greater award.”
Behind this achievement lies a strong robotics programme, where students learn how to think like engineers, strategists, and innovators. “This is what innovation looks like in SWA’s learning environment. Students build, test, fail forward, reflect, and improve through a disciplined design cycle. They learn to collaborate under pressure, communicate decisions with evidence, and lead with purpose – skills that matter in life," said Dr. Haoken, Sinarmas World Academy’s IBDP Coordinator.
For many parents, it was also an incredibly proud moment as they watched their children’s hard work, resilience, and teamwork unfold on the world stage.
“My son represented Indonesia at the VEX Robotics World Championship in the United States, and I was incredibly proud to be there with him. One of the most unforgettable moments for me was during the opening ceremony, a special tradition of the competition, when he walked onto the stage with his teammate, carrying the Indonesian flag in front of more than 5,000 spectators. It was a deeply moving experience. I was especially delighted that they received the Sportsmanship Award in the Science Division, where they competed through teamwork and cooperation in every match. I believe this recognition was the result of the children giving their very best, working together with teams from other countries, encouraging one another, and showing dedication even in the smallest details,” praised Yu Hee, Haejin’s parent.
Judith, parent of Isabel, also shared, “We feel honoured and gratified to witness our child representing Indonesia at the VEX Robotics World Championship. We are very proud of her progress and what she has accomplished. Keep dreaming big, and this is just the beginning!”
